My Long-Distance Relationship With Sen. Pat Roberts
Well I would like to know where Pat Roberts is. We’ve been in a relationship for ages, but I must admit I’ve been feeling neglected. Oh sure he said that we could handle a long-distance relationship. But it hasn’t worked out very well.
I asked him to support things that would help me. He didn’t. I asked him to support things that would help my family. He didn’t. And he wouldn’t even take on things that helped people I know.
Oh sure he came back to see me. Seven times this year. But is that enough? I know he prefers the big D.C. city lights and power. How can I compare – just a girl from Kansas with a heart of gold and ruby-red slippers?
He reminds me he has a home here. But that doesn’t really count as far as I can see. A rental home is not a place of permanence. He calls D.C. his “home,” and I feel abandoned. I look one last time in that field of sunflowers common in Kansas to see if I can see his shiny bald head. But then I see the photographer’s comments and realize that Pat has thrown me over for a Ukrainian photographer Mykola Velychko and his Ukrainian sunflowers.
